CVRG Project renewed by NHLBI

March 18, 2011

As of March 7, the CardioVascular Research Grid Project has been renewed by the NHLBI. In this renewal, the CVRG team has been expanded to include investigators at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Image Lab and the University of Chicago/Argonne National Laboratory’s Computation Institute.

Drs. J. Jeffrey Carr and Yaorong Ge of Wake Forest University will lead CRVG cardiovascular imaging informatics research and development, including efforts to apply the eXtensible Neuroimaging Archive Toolkit for use in cardiovascular imaging applications. Dr. Ian Foster and Ravi Madduri of the University of Chicago/Argonne National Laboratory will lead CVRG cardiovascular workflows research development.  Dr. Foster’s research pioneered techniques, tools and algorithms for high-performance distributed computing and parallel computing.  His laboratory is home to the Globus Toolkit, an open source software project addressing issues in grid resource sharing.  Ravi Madduri is actively involved in developing innovative software and networking technology. He is a key contributor to caBIG, where he developed a remote application virtualization infrastructure. NCI Information Systems incorporated this extension into the caGrid Service Authoring Toolkit.
