Tools

As an NHLBI resource, the CVRG is committed to the delivery of tools, for sharing and analyzing cardiovascular data. Four different groups of tools are under development or have been deployed. These are: 1) an ECG storage and analysis interface; 2) a customized instance of XNAT for cardiovascular imaging & imaging analysis; 3) an optimized representation tool for clinical data; and 4) a workflow tool for data retrieval & analysis. Within these groups, data and analytical services are combined to meet the needs of the Driving Biomedical Projects. The tools are described in detail on the CVRG Wiki, and are listed below:

CVRG ontology development and application focuses in three major areas.  We have developed a preliminary ontology for describing all aspects of ECG data collection, ECG waveform features, and ECG data analysis. We coupled ontology development with the development of an ECG data model.  The CVRG award supports the ECG ontology and data model development.

Using open-source tools, the CVRG teams work to create a seamlessly integrated interface to all the tools the CVRG makes available.  Through the use of CILogon and LifeRay, users of the CVRG can authenticate to identity providers and access webpages that are embedded in the CVRG Portal. The components for security are as follows:

The CVRG has applied specialized tools to different areas of data capture and analysis. In the Tool Demonstrations, there are recordings of tool demonstrations and presentations on tools. Accompanying the demonstrations are links to documentation on the tools, including user guides and installation instructions.

Community resources include tools developed outside of the CVRG that can be used by members of the cardiovascular community. These external tools have their own support channels, so questions regarding the tools must be directed to those groups.

The CardioVascular Research Grid is constantly searching for new tools which are of use to the CV community. If you would like to showcase tools developed by your group that may be used in CV research on our 'Community Resources' page, fill out the form below and we will evaluate all tools submitted for inclusion on our site.
